Jim founded Mission Relief to fulfill the dire needs of underprivileged people worldwide. During a winter trip to Russia in 1992, Jim witnessed first-hand how people suffer due to insufficient medical care. He also recognized how he could alleviate this suffering through donated hospital supplies and logistical support from the United States government. Shortly thereafter, Jim started collecting and shipping medical supplies first for Carelift International and then for Christian Relief Charities.
Jim believes that the mission begins with the donor. As a result of his dedication to his donors, Jim has established and maintained working relationships with several hospitals in the tri-state area for the past 15 years. Jim provides a dedicated and reliable service for his donors.
In 2001, Jim left Christian Relief Charities to establish Mission Relief Services. Jim knew he could expand services provided by increasing both his donor base and his recipients or end-users. Since the organization’s inception, Mission Relief Services has witnessed significant growth and expansion.
Jim acquired his extensive knowledge of the healthcare industry through his family’s nursing home business and through the founding of Octorara Medical Services, a medical supply company, which provided medical supplies and equipment to healthcare facilities in the tri-state area.
Jim is a Philadelphia native with a bachelor’s degree in business from Presbyterian College, a master’s in health administration from Eastern University and a masters in English and Publishing from Rosemont College. Jim is active in Presbyterian missions and has traveled to more than 25 countries. Jim has received honors from the Rotary Club and hospital boards. In 2005, Jim was recognized by the City of Philadelphia with the Citizen’s Diplomacy award.
